It should go without saying that a person should be allowed to marry whomever they choose. Until the right-wing, religious fanatics in this country stop trying to control everybody else and force their “morals” down the throat of the country, there can be no real freedom in the United States. Civil rights cannot simply be "voted away," that is the purpose of the Bill of Rights. Religious activists should be left out of these decisions completely. I invite you to my web pages devoted to raising awareness on this puritan attack on our freedom: http://freethegods.blogspot.com/2009/06/san-franciscos-gay-pride-parade.html

I guess I must have missed your little missive of three years ago. Pity. I'm sure it was front page on CNN, FOX and CNBC. That's what happens when your life revolves around Wheel Of Fortune. Ditto with JJ.

I know this may come as a total shock, Mark, but my "tirade" was not all about you but the hypocrisy that exists in both parties and their most ardent and vociferous supporters whose numbers appear to be dwindling with each election. You just clearly fit into that category. But I give you a big cheer for calling a spa….oops….can’t say that…can we? Maybe that hypocrisy will give the collection of moon bats and wing nuts something to reflect upon since the middle is where the process takes place.

Sorry to torpedo your tirade Rick - but I blogged about Byrd more than three years ago: http://nemasket.net/templeton-kennedy-byrd-and-the-kkk/

Bad example.

Robert "Exalted Cyclops" Byrd. Of course, he'll be given a free pass. And, of course, Harry Reid gets a free pass. And Jessie "Hymie Town" Jackson gets a free pass. As long as some support the cause every excuse will be made. Now just don't get me started on the other side with the "Religious Right" since they are far from "right."

I'm sure all those union guys from the various locals represent the zenith of racial tolerance. Most are Democrats. Would you care to have me detail some of the comments I have heard over the decades regarding how many of them perceive race? That blot of busing in the 70s in The Athens Of America was spearheaded by some rather interesting Democrats. But, that's all in the past. New age. Kumbaya and all that.

A failed sports reporter or Rush? Ed Shultz or Glen Beck? More of the same.

If anyone is familiar with how the term right and left came about remember they are closest to one another.

I don't think that everyone who opposes the casino is a racist but there is a component of racism in some of the anti casino sentiment. Interesting play of terminology?

Have to leave to finish feeding my collection of moonbats. Thankfully, there are very, very few of them. Next week I'll clean out the wing nut cages.

Well, you and Mike can chatter on as I am just overcome with the sheer excitment of reading the exchanges.

I know there must be some really stupid people who don't vote Republican. There must be at least some racists, too, right? There has to be.

But from the liberal side of the river, it just seems like so many of the people on the other side are people I just wouldn't want to be associated with. When you see those Tea Part dopes spouting their ignorance, it's hard to imagine why ANYONE would want to stand for a candidate they like.

I suspect even John McCain was getting fed up with the utter stupidity of his base. I think I saw that in his eyes when that woman insisted Obama was a Muslim. You could almost see him wondering "How do I respond to this idiot? Do I say 'So what if he were?' or what? And look at all those grinning buffoons in the audience? What on earth am I doing??"

I don't know. Liberals may sometimes be unrealistic, but how often are they mean and ugly? Caustic, sure. But genuinely mean spirited? You might find an example if you look hard enough, but my point is that you will have to dig for it. With Republican voters, the ugly flag is proudly waved everywhere and none of the intelligent conservatives seem to care.
