What’s wrong with Cahill – part 2

Last year I wondered What’s wrong with Cahill when he started talking casinos.

Well, he’s at it again – this time proposing three slots-only casinos:

Saying that state government needs a financial boost, Treasurer Timothy P. Cahill on Tuesday told state legislators they should approve three casinos with only slot machines, including one in central or western Massachusetts.

Cahill said three “slot parlors” could generate as much as $3 billion in upfront licensing fees for the state and about $250 million a year in tax revenues.

In the world of dumb and dumber casino plans, this one is definitely dumber.

It is well known that slots are the crack cocaine of predatory gambling and brings the highest social impacts when compared with other forms of casino offerings such as poker, blackjack, etc.

A casino with only slots is the equivalent of a whorehouse that offered AIDS infection but not sex … or a hospital that offered flesh-eating bacteria but not surgery, or a liquor stored that gave out liver disease but not booze … you get the idea.

I’m sure Cahill will offer up a compelling cost benefit analysis to go along with his “plan”. If I was a Middleboro selectman, I might say “This is crap”.

From the cheap seats of course.

Just when I think we’re finally in the clear another bobble head comes up with another hair-brained idea of how to get slots legalized in MA. My finger prints have worn off writing emails and letters to legislators who probably just shred them.

No time to quit now…anyone know how to contact Cahill?

The jacka$$ is gong to run for Governor. Where do you suppose he is going to get the money?

If this ______ runs, I will contribute, campaign for and vote for Winnie the Pooh before I would support this ______ [fill in the blanks].

He’s taken money from gambling interests.

Are they the ones stroking his over inflated ego?

Are they the ones who neglected to tell him you can’t privatize the lottery?

    Keep it up, Tim!

Pretty soon, you will have destroyed what little credibility you had left! (which wasn’t much)

    Cahill’s plan:

    1. Spend any discretionary money at the slots
    2. Local business plummets, can’t compete
    3. Bankruptcy rates soar
    4. Taxes increase (for the 1/2 of the pop. that actually pays them)
    5. We’re worse than when we started

….but who am I to be cynical.
